In a year that has seen us all step back from face-to-face communication, it’s never been a better time to send someone a letter – so happy World Post Day!
This special day – one of our favourites – was first celebrated in Switzerland in 1874 and marks the anniversary of the formation of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was created to allow the free flow of post across the world – which many of us take for granted these days.
And while email and on-line communications have a number of advantages – speed and efficiency, to name just two – we believe, for that personal touch we’re all missing this year, direct mail has the edge.
Direct mail is memorable. Unlike emails, which can be easily deleted, often unopened and unread, a letter on the doormat grabs attention and needs picking up and inspecting – a great chance to pique a customer’s interest.
A name you can trust
In the strange world of the new normal, customers want someone they can trust, and research has found that nearly 90 per cent of people think that print is more believable than email. In the same research, 70 per cent of respondents also said that mail also ‘gives them a better impression of the company’.
No matter how quick and cheap they are, at the end of the day, emails are simply words on screens, meaning the options are limited when it comes to standing out.
There are no such restrictions with direct mail, with colours, textures and sizes all helping you stand out from the crowd.
Our two most recent innovations allow envelopes to be printed with all-over patterns, while UV LED technology offers customers a variety of new coatings, such as spot hi-gloss, matt, soft touch and textured finishes.
